Can you make jasmine tea at home with fresh flowers?
Yes, on a small scale: layer freshly opened Jasminum sambac blossoms with dry green tea in a sealed jar for several hours, remove the spent flowers, and repeat if you want a stronger scent. Use only true jasmine grown without pesticides.
Never use “false jasmine” or Carolina jessamine (Gelsemium), which is poisonous despite its name, or star jasmine, which is not a true jasmine. Commercial jasmine tea repeats the scenting over several nights and re-dries the tea each time, which a home jar cannot fully copy, so homemade jasmine tea is lighter and should be used quickly.
