When each tea is made: the Fujian harvest calendar
Tea is booked against a calendar, not a catalogue. White tea buds are plucked in a few spring weeks; Anxi and Pinghe oolongs have a spring and an autumn flush; Wuyishan rock tea is picked in spring and roasted through the summer; jasmine is scented only while the blossom is open in high summer; gunpowder and Chunmee run a spring and a summer flush and are refined and shipped through the year. Windows shift with weather, so the calendar below gives typical months, not dates.

Why does the calendar matter to a contract?
The harvest calendar matters to a contract because the leaf a buyer wants may only exist for a few weeks. Bai Hao Yin Zhen is single buds from a short spring window; an autumn Tie Guan Yin cannot be produced in May; scented jasmine cannot be made before the blossom opens. A buyer who books against the calendar gets the flush they intended; a buyer who orders in the wrong month gets the nearest substitute or waits.
What does 'shipped year-round' mean for gunpowder?
For gunpowder and Chunmee, shipped year-round means refined stock exists across the year, not that the leaf is picked across the year. Both are plucked in spring and summer, then refined, screened and fired to grade and held dry at or below 7,0% moisture, so refined stock can be held and shipped across the year. Availability of a specific sub-grade still follows the flush.
