Tea to Morocco, Senegal and Ghana moves by sea from Ningbo or Shanghai. Tea to Uzbekistan — 29 217,4 tonnes in 2025, up 17,3% — has no direct sea route; this site quotes it by rail through the Khorgos–Altynkol corridor. Rail means more handling events, a gauge change, continental humidity swings and a different document set, so a packing brief written for a sea leg cannot simply be reused.

Pourquoi le rail a-t-il besoin d'un emballage différent ?
Rail needs different packing because every transfer is a chance for a sack to split and every humidity swing is a chance for moisture to climb above 7,0%. A container on a 30-day sea leg is sealed once; a rail consignment crossing borders is handled repeatedly. Moisture-barrier liners and pallets cost volume but protect the certificate of analysis.
L'incoterme change ?
The Incoterm usually changes with the mode. Under Incoterms 2020, FOB, CFR and CIF are rules for sea and inland waterway transport, so a rail leg is normally contracted under a rule for any mode, such as FCA, CPT or CIP. A sea quote names a port; a rail quote names a terminal or place, and the buyer must know which side of the border risk passes on.
